Eligibility Criteria

Previously, there was 8 National level and 12 State levels entrance examination such as AIIMS, JIPMER, NEET, and many more. In the year December 2019, the government replaced all the MBBS Admission entrance examinations with one single exam i.e., NEET (National Eligibility-Cum-Entrance Examination).

  • Must attain 18 years of age on or at the time of admission.
  • Crack NEET i.e., National Eligibility Cum Entrance Examination. General category – 50th Percentile and SC/ST/OBC – 40th Percentile.
  • Qualify Class 12 with 50% in PCB i.e., Physics, Chemistry, and Biology from a recognized board i.e., ICSE, CBSE, and other State board.

Screening Test

Screening Test of MBBS in India

Till 2021 there was no licensing examination or screening test conducted for Indian medical graduates. After qualifying for MBBS in India, the students fight for PG Seat in India.

From the year 2022, National Medical Commission will introduce NExT i.e., National Exit Test. It is a single-window examination replacing NEET-PG, Prof exam, and Screening test.

It has to be appeared and qualified by Indian Medical Graduates too. Before entering into 12 months of internship program NExT 1 has to be cleared. If the students fail to crack the test, they will be not allowed to commence their internship program.

For holding the practicing license, you have to clear the NExT 2. It is also known as Prof IV part 2. The exam is conducted to set standards for a medical degree and assess more skillful doctors in India.

Screening Test of MBBS in Abroad

A national-level examination conducted by NBE i.e., National Board of Examination in India is FMGE i.e., Foreign Medical Graduate Examination. It was conducted twice a year for foreign medical students.

The Indian students after studying MBBS Abroad pave their way towards India. Returning to India, they are liable to appear for licensing examination in order to practice in India.

In 2019 National Medical Commission announced that from the year 2022, FMGE will be replaced by NExT i.e., National Exit Test. It will be conducted in two parts i.e, NExT 1 and NExT 2.
