NEET 2021 – National Eligibility cum Entrance Test

NEET 2021 Updates: NEET exam is a mandatory examination for taking admission in any medical school in India or Abroad. One of the competitive medical entrance exams in India.

You must be attentive during the last stretch of the examination. NEET requires preparation and persistence.

Students are preparing day and night for this examination and secure a medical seat. Students are anxious to know their NEET results and accordingly select the medical college.

According to NTA’s official announcement, NEET 2021 will be held on September 12, 2021. The NTA will distribute answer keys with the right answers to the questions that were given in the NEET exam.

Overview of NEET

What is NEET/NEET-UG 2021?

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, also called NEET-UG, will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) on September 12, 2021.

Alongside the exam date, NTA has additionally declared the NEET 2021 important dates related to registrations, admit cards, and results.

NEET 2021 Application Form and authority notification is released on July 13, 2021. The last date for registering for the NEET exam is August 6, 2021.

Under the Societies Registration Act, the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), presently known as the Ministry of Education (MoE), of the Government of India (GOI), established the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an independent and autonomous body.

NTA is the testing organization for conducting efficient, transparent, and international standards tests in order to assess the MHRD.

What is the Eligibility Criteria to appear for NEET – UG 2021..?

The candidate who wants to appear for the NEET i.e., National Eligibility cum Entrance Test the candidates must fulfill the prescribed eligibility criteria specified by NTA i.e., National Testing Agency. The detailed criteria for NEET examination should be met by the candidates appearing for the NEET exam is listed below:

  • The candidate must be 17 years of age on or before December 31 of the year of admission.
  • Indian Citizens or Overseas Citizens of India intending to pursue medical courses in a foreign Medical / Dental Institute also need to qualify NEET UG.
  • The candidate should have passed the class 12 examination from a recognized board i.e., ICSE, CBSE, and other state board
  • Qualifying Percentage in PCB i.e. Physics, Chemistry and Biology for General category – 50%, SC/ST/OBC category – 40%, physically changed candidates – 45%

Note: The upper age limit of 25 years of the age as on the date of examination for General Category.

There are 5 years of relaxation for ST/SC/OBC – NCL Category and PwBD Candidates which means their upper age limit is of 30 years of the age as on the date of examination.

Eligibility

Reservation Policy for Admission to MBBS and BDS course

Reservation in All India Quota
  • SC – 15%
  • ST – 7.5%
  • PwBD – 5% Horizontal Reservation
  • OBC – 27% only in National Institutes / Central Universities
  • EWS – 10% only in National Institutes / Central Universities

The Government of India’s reservation policy applies to the NEET – UG Examination. According to this, seats in Central Universities and institutions are reserved for:

  • 10% for the Category General – Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS),
  • 15% for the Category Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • 7.5% for the Category Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • 27% for the Category Other Backward Classes belonging to the Non- Creamy Layer (OBC – NCL)
  • 5% for the Category Other Backward Classes belonging to the Creamy Layer (OBC – NCL)

NEET Application Form

The candidates who want to sit for the NEET examination should fill up the application form released by NTA i.e., National Test Agency. The full process of filling up the application form is thoroughly online.

Documents required for filling application form:

  1. Scan of Photograph
    • Passport size photograph
    • Name of the candidate and date should be printed below the photograph
  2. Scan of signature
    • Candidate’s signature should be on white background with black ink.
  3. Other documents
    • Valid mobile number
    • Valid email id
    • Mark sheet – class 10
    • Mark sheet – class 12
    • Identity proof: Voter Id card/ Aadhaar card/ Ration card

For payment: Credit card / Debit card

Let’s start with the Process of Filling up the Application Form:

Step 1: Online Registration

  • Go to the official website of NTA NEET
  • Click on “New Registration”
  • Enter the following details
    1. Candidate’s Name
    2. Mother’s name
    3. Father’s name
    4. Date of birth
    5. Category
    6. Gender
    7. Nationality
    8. Persons with Disability
    9. Identification Type
    10. Identification Number
    11. Mobile number
    12. Email Id
  • Set a password and select a security question
  • Note these for future reference
  • Click on “OTP Verification”
  • You will receive an OTP on the registered mobile number
  • Enter OTP in the space provided
  • Click on “Submit”
  • A provisional application number will be displayed on the screen
  • Note down the application number for future reference

Step 2: Fill the Application Form

The following details must be entered to fill the form:

  • Personal Details 
  • Place of Birth
  • Choice of Medium of Question Paper
  • Choice of Examination Centre – four exam cities have to be chosen
  • Academic Details – Class 10th or equivalent

Step 3: Upload the documents

  • Click on “Upload your recent photograph and signature”

Step 4: Pay the application fee

  • Online through Debit/Credit Cards or Net banking.
  • Offline through SBI e-Challan to be paid in cash in the nearest SBI branch.

NEET 2021: Syllabus

National Medical Commission has released the NEET – UG 2021 syllabus. In order to rationalize various School Education Boards has taken a decision to reduce the syllabus.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has decided to provide choice in section B for each of the 4 subjects.

Exam Pattern of NEET – UG 2021

Candidates appearing for the test are may be concerned about the exam pattern, the number of questions, time allotted to finish the exam, answer marking, and other factors.

National Testing Agency, the conducting body of NEET-UG has decided that the question paper will be formatted as an OMR sheet. Be cautious while filling up the OMR sheet.

The exam pattern comprises 2 sections. Each subject will consist of 2 sections i.e., Section A and Section B.

Section A consists of 35 questions. Section B consists of 15 questions out of these candidates may select any 10 questions to attempt.

  • Each questions carries 4 marks and each correct answer +4 marks will be given to the candidate
  • Each incorrect answer 1 marks will be deducted from the total score

Candidates can opt for the examination in 13 languages

Note: The candidates must choose the option of medium carefully while filling up the Application Form because candidates can’t change the option once chosen.

NEET Question Paper 2020

NEET 2021 question paper will have 200 multiple choice questions in total for 4 marks each. Students must keep one thing in mind while answering the question paper of NEET that there will be a negative marking of one mark for every wrong answer.

The medium or choice of language is totally on the candidate as the NEET question paper is available in regional languages and English, Hindi, Bengali, and so on.

It has to be kept in mind that the choice of the regional language will depend upon the location of the NEET exam center 2021.

Admit Card – NEET-UG 2021

The admit card will be available online on the official website of NTA. The admit card is issued to the candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria.

The candidates appearing for NEET 2021 should download the admit card and take a printout of the same. To download the admit card the candidates must have their application number and date of birth ready.

No candidate will be allowed to appear at the examination center other than the date and time allotted on the admit card.

Note: Admit Card would not be sent by post.

How to download NEET 2020 Admit Card..?

The candidates who are appearing for NEET 2020 examination are supposed to have their admit card to give NEET 2020 examination.

The following steps are to be followed:

  • Go to the official website of NTA
  • Click on “Download NEET admit card 2020
  • Enter Application number, date of birth, security pin
  • Click on “Submit”
  • Check all the details mentioned on admit card, if correct proceed to download PDF
  • Take a printout
  • Get it signed by your parents

How to retrieve the application number for NEET admit card 2020..?

In case if the application number of candidates is lost or forgotten, the following steps can be used to retrieve it.

  1. Go to the official website of NTA.
  2. Click on ‘Forgot registration number’ link.
  3. Submit the asked details like candidate’s name, name of parents, and date of birth, category and security pin.
  4. NEET application number to download the admit card will be sent to email id.

Documents to be carried along with the NEET 2020 admit card

The candidates are required to carry their admit card to the NEET examination center and along with the admit card the candidates are supposed to carry certain other documents such as:

  • Any one ID proof – Voter ID card, Aadhar card, Pan card or any other
  • One passport size photograph (considerably the photograph in application form)
  • PWD certificate issued by competent authority (if claiming relaxation)

NEET 2020 exam day guidelines

NEET 2020 exam day guidelines are prepared for the candidates who are going to appear in the examination. On the day of the exam, the candidates get nervous and stressed so, that they forget some important things to remember other than their syllabus.

NEET 2020 dress code

The NTA follows strict rules and regulations in order to maintain discipline. The NTA has specifically given a dress code for the candidates for the exam day along with the list of items that are barred on the examination day. The list is as follows:

  • Light clothes with half sleeves are permitted.
  • Long sleeves are not permitted.
  • Slippers, sandals with low heels are permitted.
  • Shoes are not permitted.
  • Ornaments, jewellery items etc. are not permitted.
  • Candidates wearing a customary dress should report to the examination centre at least an hour before the last reporting time.

What to carry on the exam day?

  • NEET 2020 admit card
  • Two passport size photographs (preferably same as the one submitted with the application form)
  • A valid photo Id proof (Driving Licence, PAN Card, Passport/ Aadhaar card)
  • PWD Certificate (if applicable)

What not to carry?

  • A stationery item like textual material (printed or written), bits of papers, Geometry / Pencil Box, Plastic Pouch, Calculator, Pen, Scale, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Eraser, Calculator, Log Table, Electronic Pen/Scanner, etc.
  • Communication devices like Mobile Phone, Bluetooth, Earphones, Microphone, Pager,
  • Health Band, etc.
  • Other items like Wallet, Goggles, Handbags, Belt, Cap Watch/Wrist Watch, Bracelet, Camera, etc.
  • Any eatable item, water bottle, tea, coffee, cold drinks, etc. are not permitted.
  • Any other item which could be used for communication devices like a microchip, camera, Bluetooth device, etc.
  • Candidates suffering from diabetes are allowed to carry eatables (with prior intimation) like sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange) and transparent water bottle. However, they will not be allowed to carry packed foods like chocolate/ candy/sandwich, etc.

Reporting time for NEET 2020

The candidates should have good time management on the exam day to have a hassle-free day.

  • The NEET 2020 reporting time will start at 12 pm.
  • The last time for entry will be at 1:30 pm and after that the candidates are not allowed to enter the centre.

Guidelines to follow inside the exam centre

It is essential for the candidates to know the things that have to be done and avoided inside the exam hall. There is a list of instructions that must be followed by all the candidates.

  • The candidate must possess their admit card. If any candidate found without hall ticket, they will not be allowed to enter the examination hall under any circumstances.
  • The candidates must find out and occupy their allotted seats. If any candidate is found appearing exam from a seat or room other than the allotted one, then their paper shall be cancelled.
  • The exam will start exactly at the time mentioned in the Admit Card and an announcement to this effect will be made by the invigilator.
  • If any candidate create any kind of misbehaviour or disturbance at the examination hall, then their paper shall be cancelled as per the NEET Rules and Regulations 2020. The committee can place legal/ criminal proceedings and candidate can be restricted from appearing in future examinations.
  • The candidates are not allowed to leave the exam hall for any reason before the time. The NEET exam duration is of 3 hours and there is no break in between the exam. Therefore, the candidates are expected to stay in the examination hall for this time period.

NEET 2021 Updates: Answer Key NEET 2021

As per the information bulletin published by the National Testing Agency NEET 2021 Answer Key releasing date hasn’t been announced yet.

Candidates are required to keep an eye on the official website of NEET UG 2021 i.e. https://neet.nta.nic.in/ for checking the official answer key.

NTA publishes the provisional answer key on the site giving an opportunity to the students for challenging the answer key, in case of any doubt in the answer key published on the official website.

NEET 2021 Results

NEET 2020 results will be released by NTA i.e., National Testing Agency. The result will be available to the candidates online through the official website of NTA. The candidates can download the results by entering their roll number, date of birth, and security pin. So, the candidates must keep their documents handy.

Counseling by MCC for MBBS and BDS Admission

Medical Counselling Committee of Directorate General of Health Services would conduct online counseling for undergraduate medical courses.

All the information related to counseling would be available on the official website of MCC i.e. https://mcc.nic.in/ugcounselling/home for undergraduate medical courses.

The candidates must read the following information to understand the plan of action to be taken while the entire counseling process.

MCC Counselling is conducted for:

  1. 15% All India Quota seats MBBS / BDS seats of states (except Jammu & Kashmir)
  2. 100% MBBS / BDS seats of BHU OPEN
  3. AIIMS Open seats – 100% MBBS seats of AIIMS across India
  4. JIPMER Open (Pudducherry / Karaikal) & Internal seats (Domicile)
  5. AMU Open & Internal seats
  6. 85% Internal quota / domicile seats of DU / I.P. University (VMMC / ABVIMS / ESIC Dental)
